Outage Overview

CenterPoint Energy is working to have restorations substantially complete to customers who are available to receive service by end of day Wednesday. Hardest hit areas of our territory include: Bellaire, Cypress, Baytown, Greenspoint, Humble and Spring Branch. As more details are available, CenterPoint will provide localized restoration updates. Nearly 7,000 workers are deployed across all impacted areas of our service territory and estimated times for restoration are based on the extent of significant damage in those areas.

Customers without power are encouraged to have an emergency plan in place, especially those customers who depend on electricity for life-sustaining equipment.

Power Restoration

Understand factors affecting reliability

  • Systematic Power Restoration
  • Strength of the electrical grid
  • Intelligent-grid monitoring (identifying potential outages)
  • Weather (storms and lightning)
  • Trees/vegetation (affecting overhead lines)
  • Damage from people/vehicles/animals
  • Accuracy of peak-usage predictions
  • Rerouting electricity when problems arise

CenterPoint Energy’s control over each factor may vary greatly. For example, we have more control over how we build/strengthen our grid than the number of outages caused by severe storms and lightning. Learn more about power reliability and how electricty gets delivered to you.
